SPORTS PAGE DESIGNER — The News & Advance has an opening for a sports page designer/copy editor to join our desk in Lynchburg, Va., handling pages for The News & Advance and the Danville Register & Bee, as well as five weekly newspapers. The job involves designing sports pages, writing headlines and display type, and proofing pages, in addition to working carefully with local and wire copy. Quark or InDesign experience essential. In addition to prep sports, our papers cover three Division I colleges, NASCAR, and minor league baseball. Daily experience preferred, but entry-level with college experience will be considered. You must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Lynchburg is located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. It's a college town with a thriving downtown and is one of the best places anywhere to get outdoors for running, hiking, biking, and canoeing. We have a reputation for providing journalists with the experience they need to move on to a major daily.
