Sports page designer/copy editor, Pensacola

Discussion in 'Journalism Jobs' started by Sunshine Scooter, Feb 4, 2008.

  1. From APSE,

Having filled one position, the Pensacola News Journal seeks an additional sports page designer/copy editor for its 71,000 circulation daily.

We're looking for someone with experienced design skills able to handle creating section-fronts five days a week. We are a Gulf Coast community in the Florida Panhandle with a sizeable number of successful professional athletes and high school teams regularly competing for state championships.

Interest applicants should submit five PDF work samples, cover letter and resume to:

    Bill Vilona
    Sports Editor
    Pensacola News Journal
    101 E. Romana St.
    Pensacola, FL 32502

You may also apply via e-mail to:
    bvilona@pnj.com.

FYI (and it seems most newspapers live in the past when it comes to circulation) According to ABC, daily circ is 56k, Sunday is about 71k

I actually did a phone interview with the sports editor, Bill Vilona, a few weeks ago and found him to be a great guy. The upper management types ... not so much.
