Well maybe not sucked, but average, standard players. Irving isn't the best PG in the game, so he's a standard player. Not a big part of the Cavs.

    They didn't suck.

Fun fact tho: the year Bird got hurt and McHale, Parish and a young Reggie Lewis had to carry the team, the celts won a grand total of 42 games - 15 fewer than the year before.

Bird was obviously the only reason they won.

Alma is incorrect that LBJ is the sole reason the Cavs won...but he's EASILY the biggest. He's the best player on defense for the Cavs. The best passer. The best all-around player on the planet. He took the Cavs to the Finals in 2007 when fricking Eric Snow and Boobie Gibson were his running mates. Holy poo. Also had over the hill Larry Hughes and then for a few years Mo Williams was the second-best player. Damn. Amazing what LBJ accomplished with the garbage he was surrounded with.

Without LeBron the Cavs don't have home-court in one series. Without Kyrie or K-Love LeBron wins 45-plus and goes to the ECF. probably the Finals this year. Is he the sole reason the Cavs won the Finals? No. Is he the biggest? Yes. Kyrie hit the huge shot in G7 but LeBron was phenomenal at both ends in the 4Q.

    Nobody argued he wasn't.

Do QBs win titles on their own? No. Do they get the most credit? Yes. LeBron has been under the microscope constantly, every flaw in his game nitpicked and he's still one of the best ever and replace LeBron with average player Cavs are a lottery team. Replace Kyrie or Love with average player, the Cavs are a top-4 seed still.

The Warriors fear LeBron...might have enough numbers to win with Draymond, Steph, KD, Klay this year....but it takes that much for them to feel confident vs. LBJ

Vigi SnoCone, playing both sides of the fence, and probably losing track of whatever he is trying to argue.

If he's not there, they don't win. Period.

Since the example was presented, I must note that in Bird's rookie year the Celts had the best regular season record in the East and he was as good as in all the later years, but they got smoked by the Sixers 4-1 in the playoffs. THEN Auerbach pulled off the McHale-Parish swindle, and they became a great team. He doesn't do that, maybe Bird is remembered like George Gervin.
