According to the Chamber of Commerce, Vernon is within "spittin' distance of Wichita Falls." And that's listed as a good thing.

 

on the plus side, it IS a member of the AP.

 

If you could cover Midwestern State it wouldn't be a bad gig.

 

I'm shocked Vernon has a daily newspaper.

It's high school has been pretty good in recent memory.

It's on the wrong side of Wichita Falls, though. The Panhandle side.

 

Oh, while I'm thinking of it, Vernon does have a juco to cover. But I think they only play baseball and softball — no football or basketball.

 

Lacrosse? Cricket? Rugby?

Gosh, Vernon, Texas. Last time I rolled through there was umpteen years ago and stayed at I wanna say a Holiday Inn..didn't realize they had a daily.
