The Saratogian, Record and Community News is looking for a sports editor to lead coverage for two daily and one weekly newspaper. We cover sports at all levels in most of New York's Capital Region, including high schools, colleges, some professional franchises and the annual horse-racing meet at the historic Saratoga Race Course. The sports editor is responsible for scheduling coverage and doing pages along with coverage of various sporting events. We are looking for a self-starter who can manage others and come up with creative ways to boost our sports coverage online and in print.

A bachelor's degree in journalism is preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates who have a similar degree and/or relevant experience working in a sports department. This would be a good position for an experienced sports reporter looking to move up.

The position is based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., a vibrant community steeped in history located just a short drive from the Albany area to the south and the Adirondack Park to the north.

Please e-mail a cover letter, resume and work examples to Managing Editor Charlie Kraebel at ckraebel@digitalfirstmedia.com. Please put "sports editor" in the subject line. No phone calls or drop-ins, please.
