The Times-Gazette, a 7,000-circ, five-day-a-week paper, has an opening for a sports editor. It's a one-man show (including your own photos), although you'd inherit a couple of good stringers.

Shelbyville's about an hour's drive SE of Nashville and 90 minutes NW of Chattanooga. It's home to a major Walking Horse festival every September, although it's my impression sports doesn't take the lead on this. There is one major high school and there are three smaller high schools, one of which is pretty decent.

The previous guy took a job with a Web site that covers UT sports, so there is a good chance to get your name out there. He also covered some Titans and Vols, and I've seen some of their other people at Vandy games.

Not a bad gig, IMO, for a newbie out to make a strong impact. PM me if you want more info.

There's a farm not too far from there that gets busy every June.
