Sports editor or reporter with a talent for writing, a passion for high school sports and who is not afraid of multimedia, sought by the New Bern Sun Journal, the torchbearer in the town that was home to North Carolina's first newspaper. We cover five high schools in a three-county region, with some of the most competitive programs in the state. We're a Freedom Communications newspaper and heavily invested in community news, both in print and online (newbernSportsJournalists.com). The job is full-time with benefits. New Bern is a riverfront town, near a national forest and an hour drive from the beach. E-mail a cover letter, resume and work samples to Managing Editor Randy Foster at rfoster@freedomenc.com.

Great location. All desk work is done at the Jacksonville Daily News, which is a Freedom hub for three papers (Kinston, New Bern, Jacksonville). But they specify sports editor or reporter, which is a little puzzling.
