Sports Editor, Mount Airy (NC) News

The Mount Airy News, a daily newspaper in beautiful Mount Airy, N.C., has an immediate opening for a regional sports editor. We're looking for someone who loves community sports, and is ready to offer leadership and oversight to a small local daily staff, and to coordinate regional coverage for our sister papers in neighboring communities. Perfect opportunity for a sports writer with daily writing experience to take the next step in his or her career. Writing, editing, and photography experience needed, as are familiarity and comfort with digital platforms a necessity. Land of Mayberry. It's pretty up there if a bit isolated. Winston-Salem is a little over an hour away. Since it's a Civitas paper the pay can't be very high. Not sure if there's layout involved. Civitas has a big editing hub in Lumberton. Regional probably means overseeing the Elkin Tribune and Yadkin Ripple, too.
