The Herald, a 9,300-circulation daily newspaper in southwestern Indiana, is looking for a talented sports editor. Our area features some of the state’s best prep sports and The Herald is dedicated to producing a quality sports section.

Prior experience in page design and editing are strongly encouraged. The sports editor will handle duties from game coverage to feature writing to editing, layout and overall supervision of the daily sports section. We offer the chance to go beyond common sports reporting via expanded game coverage and magazine-style features. Coverage includes prep sports as well as community sports and a summer-league collegiate baseball team.

The new sports editor will start at The Herald initially working and learning under the current sports editor. The new sports editor will take over for good by at least Jan. 1, 2018, and possibly before that date.

Members of our staff have received numerous writing awards from the Hoosier State Press Association, the Associated Press Sports Editors and the Associated Press Managing Editors. We have been named the top section in Indiana multiple times.

Jasper is located less than 90 minutes from Evansville, Bloomington and Louisville. The Herald is a family-owned newspaper published six afternoons a week (Monday-Saturday). Our website is at www.duboiscountyherald.com.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 5. Send résumés and writing clips to Herald Publisher John Rumbach at jrumbach@dcherald.com. Include page design clips if available.
