The Hannibal (Missouri) Courier-Post is looking for a sports editor who can do it all – photography, writing and page layout – at a pace that can get us out on nightly deadline. We are a hyper-local publication, (five days a week,) and our readers feel a real ownership of the news product. We are community journalism at the grass roots level. If you have the energy and desire to cover a game or two each night and showcase your own talents on our sports pages, if you feel comfortable working with parents who submit content when we can’t be at the game, if you’re inventive and imaginative and want a great starting point for your future journalistic endeavors, then give us a call.

    Mary Lou Montgomery Editor, Hannibal Courier-Post P.O. Box A Hannibal, MO 63401 (573) 248-2750 Marylou.montgomery@courierpost.com

Is this your paper? Should I apply to become your boss? Or should I tell Mark about it?

Repackaged as "sports writer" rather than "sports editor" this time around, but now officially open:

"The Hannibal (Missouri) Courier-Post has an opening for a sports writer - an entry level position that will help any journalist learn the ropes. We take pride in our multimedia presentations and "real people" interviews. We work hard, collaborate with our readers, and have fun telling the stories of the day. Interested? We're not a local newspaper, anymore. marylou.montgomery@courierpost.com"

What makes them not a local newspaper? The Manny Ramirez commentary from last weekend?
