SPORTS EDITOR, BEAUMONT (TEXAS) ENTERPRISE

The Beaumont Enterprise seeks a writing, hands-on sports editor to lead a three-person staff in smart, imaginative and energetic execution of intensely local coverage. The sports editor is the senior editor responsible for sports-related web, social media and print content. Our emphasis is on audience engagement, enterprise, innovation and hard news, especially high-readership web and A1 print stories. Traditional standard game and feature coverage are way down the priority list. The ideal applicant will have strong line-editing, communication, organization and leadership skills, along with an unselfish management style. An active disdain for clichés is a plus.

The area is home to serious Texas high school football, FCS school Lamar University, many current and former professional athletes and a high-profile outdoors scene.

Our approach and your talent can take you places. Enterprise journalists have gone on to be successful in sports and news at major newspapers across the country, and the editor is former sports editor of several metro papers.
