The St. Petersburg Times is looking for a designer for one of the best sports sections in the country. We’re seeking a designer who loves the mix of high-impact fronts with smart, information-rich details. We value accuracy, attention to detail and news judgment in our designers. You must be comfortable with deadline pressure. Ideal candidates must demonstrate a willingness to be part of a busy team that serves a large print and online audience. He or she must be willing to work nights and weekends. A minimum of three years of daily newspaper design experience is preferred. The Times uses InDesign in a DTI system.

If you are interested in this position, please apply online at tampabay.com/company/join-us. The Job ID is #264. Be sure to attach work samples or list a website where they can be viewed.

(We also have an opening for a features designer.)

I know at least one designer down there who makes a damn fine pumpkin cookie.

Did St. Pete ever go to a smaller web?

In my opinion a cookie cannot be damn-fine unless it has some form of chocolate in it - but I haven't tried the pumpkin cookies.

    (We're at 48" web now.)

That's two new sports designers at the Star-Tribune in the past month and a half.
