    I don't think those people meant anonymous speech should be allowed in the world. Just on newspaper message boards and comment sites which, you know, is what this thread is about.

    I'm not saying you shouldn't check. I'm saying it's easily circumvented. Registering comments on a site doesn't eliminate commenters who violate your policies, it eliminates lazy commenters who violate your policies. It just also eliminates lazy commenters in general.

    The Palm Beach Post did, for a while, on a revamped Sunday page. Then when they slashed space, they got rid of it.

    One question we've struggled with regarding comments and our site is "Does choosing to eliminate comments/users we find offensive then create a de facto endorsement of the ones we've allowed to remain?"
