    From JJ.com:

    Company: South Idaho Press
Position: Daily needs sports writer who loves sports
    Location: Burley, Idaho
    Job Status: Full-time
    Salary: Negotiable
    Ad Expires: September 6, 2006
    Job ID: 666719

    Description:
If you understand the real importance and thrill of varsity athletics in a smaller community, and love everything about sports, this may be the job for you.
We have an immediate opening for a sports reporter who is passionate about up-and-coming athletes and hard-working coaches, and dedicated to giving fans the local coverage they demand. It won't take you much time in our community to realize that high school sports are serious business. Working with our sports editor, your job would be to cover them with enthusiasm. Our teams regularly go to and win state tourneys, so it's easy to be a fan.

Also expect to cover community sporting events such as golf and other adult tourneys, triathlons and cycle, boat and ski races. Don't be afraid to scout out features that get beyond stats and recaps to all the things that make sports so great.

The home delivery of our afternoon daily is growing at a rate of 21 percent (you read right) and the overhaul of our newsroom is a big reason for our success. We need somebody willing to play the next key role in our continuing growth.

You would cover five high schools in two rural counties and shoot photos to go with your stories, so be comfortable with a camera and subjects. This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to step up from a weekly or are a recent graduate with the talent to start out at a daily.

A degree in journalism, English or a related field, or comparable experience, is required. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is desirable.

The South Idaho Press is owned by Lee Enterprises, one of 58 dailies in 23 states, and is an excellent launching pad for your career. We offer a full benefits package, competitive pay for the area and a fun, fast-paced working environment.

Please send a concise cover letter, two writing samples and an honest resume with references as soon as possible to Managing Editor Chip Thompson at cthompson@southidahopress.com.

I wonder what exactly is the Spanish speaking population in South Idaho?

I mean, it's pretty close to the border -- oh, wait ... wrong one.

That part of Idaho is heavy with agriculture (potatoes, sugar beets, etc.) so migrant labor keeps the area from completey living up to the nickname "crackerville."

Well, that is where Pedro and Uncle Rico hail from, isn't it?
