Gotta say, too, that the lobster bisque at the Soup Nazi's place does, indeed, buckle knees. Are his kiosks still open in NYC?

    Tomato.

But it must, must, must be accompanied by a tall glass of very cold milk.

I did a catering event a few weeks back and made four gallons of what started as the base recipe from Outback Steakhouse Walkabout Soup. Seven pounds of onions.

Jiggered the recipe some, of course, and threw in Texas Pete.

It was utterly fabulous and got rave reviews.

  4. The idea for this survey came when I had just one can of soup left in the cupboard and could not see the label. I found myself hoping it was Vegetable Beef. My "go to" soup.

Hi I'm Chris and I'ma Vegetable Beef soup guy.

    Hi Chris

Cajun corn and crab bisque, known in these parts merely as "corn n' crab."

There was a place near my mom's house in La Place, La., that used to sell it by the gallon.

    OK.
    Chicken Corn Chowder.

Though I'm a fan of most soups. Not a huge tomato fan, then I had some at Panera and it was really good. Thick. Creamy. I like New England better than Manhattan clam chowder but dig both.

Is chili a soup? My son makes the best chili I've ever had.

Yeah, if crawfish etouffee is a soup, I'm changing my answer.

And made with milk, not water.

Best soup I have ever made was made with a Easter ham bone, water and a slow cooker.

I think chili falls on the other side of the soup/stew divide.

Though I've had Brunswick stews that are basically vegetable soup with chicken.

    1. Gumbo
    2. French onion
    3. Tomato (with a grilled cheese, as grandma taught me)
    4. Chili with beans in it (because when you add the beans, it's a soup not real chili)
    5. Taco

I'm thinking that a go to soup has to be in a can and in easy reach of your Hubbard.

    Mine is Italian Wedding Soup.
