Drafting off the "Best Song About..." Thread...

I heard Roy Orbison's "In Dreams" the other day and it occurred to me that I will always think of Dennis Hopper and Dean Stockwell whenever I hear that song.

"Stuck in the Middle with You" is another song that immediately calls up its placement in a movie.

To me, Goodfellas is full of these - "Atlantis," "Sunshine of Your Love," "My Way."

What other songs are married to a movie?

Mrs. Robinson and The Graduate is probably so obvious that didn't think of it at first.

Just off the top of my head:

    "I'm Alright" with Caddyshack

"The Way We Were" with the movie of the same name

"Goodbye Girl" with the movie of the same name

    "Wild Thing" with Major League

"Bohemian Rhapsody" with Wayne's World, even though the song was a huge hit 15 years earlier.

"Cruel Summer" and "You're the Best Around" with Karate Kid

"Get Outta My Dreams" with License to Drive

"Gonna Fly Now" with the Rocky movies

Jingle Bell Rock to open original Lethal Weapon.
Summer in the City to open Die Hard with a Vengeance.

    Shout, in Animal House.
Son of a Preacher Man and You Never Can Tell, in Pulp Fiction.

Wonderful World is another that makes me think Animal House anytime I hear it.

There was a minor hit by Shades Apart in the late 90s called Valentine that references Casablanca and I rarely think of one without the other coming to mind, but I'm likely just about alone in that.

I have never heard it outside of the Rocky movies.

"Wind Beneath My Wings" - Beaches. Had no idea Willie Nelson also sang a version. Thought it was pure chick, and I say that as a chick.

TV version: "Little Boxes" - Weeds

"Raised on the Radio" - Fast Times
