I'm in PR. My best friend, also a former hack, is in PR. Another couple of SJ buds are in technical writing. My state has a pretty solid provisional teaching certificate program. Don't sell yourself short. There are other things you can do with the skills you have from sports writing. And if you still have a jones to do it, you can string for extra money.

You can SID, but some schools pay less than newspapers. I know one DI school that lets a part-timer work from his home across the country.

Yeah, I left out SID, which I don't see as much of an improvement. Their hours are worse than ours.

    Get all the holidays off
Get all nights and weekends off
    Actually save money
    Take a two hour lunch
Leave early or come in late without anyone caring
Get free stuff like hockey tickets, baseball tickets, meals and drinks
Not have to worry about layoffs, furloughs, pay cuts, or restructuring

I work as a copywriter for an insurance company. No, not an underwriter. I don't write insurance policies. I write advertisements and press releases for my company.

Wow, you really had it bad. These are the kinds of things that I think most people actually like about journalism jobs.

Leave BEFORE the game's over if the game sucks or the weather is bad.
