Wanted to bump this up because this evening was the first of two services for Prosser, this one at Wake Forest. The second service will be in Cincinnati on Saturday.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't he and Bill Cowher go to the same high school in Pittsburgh?

I think most of my thoughts about Skip Prosser have been covered but I wanted to confirm that he was one of the classiest guys in the business. He was a always engaging, always willing to talk and very genuine when he answered you.

We need far more guys like Skip Prosser in sports.

    Yes and no.
    Skip was from Carnegie High.
Bill went to Carlynton, after the merger with Roslyn Farms and Crafton.

Late to the party ... no sooner did I get to my new destination than I see something on the TV crawl about Skip. Awful, awful, awful.

In addition to the odd ACC assignment, I once saw Prosser at a minor-league baseball game in eastern North Carolina. He was at ease talking with fans, being among the crowd and enjoying the game during an obvious down time for recruiting.

I'll bet a plane ticket back home that most of the people in that stadium had no clue who Skip was. On the other hand, Roy Williams and Mike Krzyzewski probably would have needed police escorts. Knowing what I did of Skip, he probably relished being able to be with the people and never thought twice about being resentful that he wasn't some holier-than-thou icon.

That's typical of the hires Ron Wellman has made at Wake Forest. The school and program will obviously move on in due time, but Skip won't be forgotten.
