SJ.COM exclusive: "Knocked Up" will be the biggest comedy since Wedding Crashers

Saw a long portion of it this morning -- very funny. Stars Katherine Heigl and is written/directed by 40 Year Old Vigin's Judd Apatow.

I predict this movie will top one of the big sequels, either Shrek, Spidey or Pirates.

since this is an SportsJournalists.com exclusive, does that mean no one else is allowed to know the movie will be great?

 

If Katherine Heigl gets naked, that would be a good start to get me in the theater...

I love for comedies to do well, but let's keep in mind that 40-Year-Old Virgin barely cleared $100 mil. Shrek The Third, Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3 will all approach that number opening weekend...

"virgin" was rated 'r.' that'll keep the box-office numbers down. what's this one gonna be rated?

 

Wedding Crashers was Rated R too, and I think that cleared $250 mil.

That film at least had two pretty bankable stars.

Heigl's last film made $30. That's not a typo...

 

Wasn't Heigl's last film made pre-Grey's Anatomy?

 

I think so... Her status has gone up considerably since then obviously, but she's not going to open a film... They're going to have to promote the hell out of it... I hope it's as good as TigerVols says, there aren't nearly enough good comedies anymore...

 

I keep repeating myself, but I think Heigel is very good at comedy. Much more so than drama, or whatever emotional porn they ask her to do on Grey's. The parts of that show where she gets to be funny are well done. She has almost no movie track record, but I think she's going to do well in the long run. I think I might be in the minority here since everyone I talk to seems to feel that Izzie has surpased Meredith as the show's most annoying character, but we'll see.

However, it would totally be sweet if they promo-ed this movie by saying...
