Joe Lunardi's got them matched up in an 8/9 game in his latest Bracketology. I say let 'em go at it in the play-in game!

Within the past decade, I believe KU and Kentucky played an 8-9 game. KU won, then nearly pulled the second-round upset against Duke.

Elton Brand was still playing for Duke. That was Kirk Hinrich/Nick Collison/Drew Gooden's freshman season, so that would have been 2000.

You betcha. That way the winner gets a 1 seed in the second round anyway.

    Great idea!

and I really, really, really, really don't want to be at the play-in game.

The arena's nice, and it's right off the interstate.

I wish the play-in game wasn't always two mid-majors going at it.
How about Mississippi State vs. Missouri State

A mid-major has never been in the play-in game. As impolitic as this sounds, the teams in that game have always been low-majors. Though if North Texas gets put in the at-large game, they might count as mid-major.

I'm pretty sure that watching the selection show this year is going to make me physically ill at some of the at-large bcs conference teams that get in over mid-majors who are probably better.
