little man shockey is a freshman at suny-binghamton and just called home to report he's fine and there's extra security on campus. the school is shutting down for spring break tomorrow.

the campus is somewhat away from the fray.

bejeesus. my cousin is here and we agree with an earlier post: this seems to be happening weekly these days, no?

yes. for people who don't know, Binghamton University is actually in Vestal, a few minutes away from the scene.

I have spent many summer days in that town. I hope the remainder of the news we hear is good.

    These criminals are f'ing animals.

I swear to God, if this is over people taking other people's jobs...

CNN reporting the governor saying 12 or 13 dead, including a gunman.

One notes the use of "a" rather than "the."

Execution-style mass murders.... whispers death toll is at least 15, perhaps much higher.... backed his car up against the back doors so people couldn't get out.

This building works with immigrants. I am just wildly connecting dots, but you have to ask why exactly they chose that building.

ABC News says he shot himself.

Hopefully it was a slow and painful death.

One report described the shooter as Asian.

More likely he'd gone through some program there himself.

That was my first though, too. Not a wild guess at all.

Just sad and tragic. I can't/don't want to imagine the horror of being in that building. I'm skipping the TV coverage.

No motive reported? Shootings were random?
