Shooting at Holocaust Museum

Shepherd Smith is on Fox right reading angry e-mails from "nutty" (his word) people defending their anti-government/ anti-Obama views. Can't wait for his segue to Glenn Beck's show.

 

The security guard is dead, according to CNN, citing the DC ABC affiliate.

 

That really sucks. Thoughts and prayers to the guard's family and friends. You've got to figure that museum is more of a target than all but a half-dozen landmarks in DC.

 

This guy might have done this 28 years ago if he hadn't been caught.

I can't remember anything like this happening at the museum before, which is pretty amazing when you think about it.

 

I think the HM is on the Washington Monument end of the Mall, just around the corner from the Smithsonian castle, so it's about a mile at least from the Capitol (although yes, you can see the Capitol from there).

Still, a very busy area and there are always a ton of cops on patrol thereabouts. So even had the guy gotten out of the HM, he would not have gone very far. But he would have had plenty of potential hostages or innocent victims, had he decided to keep shooting.

Man, 89 year-old guys don't really fit the deranged gunman profile.

 

This one sure as hell did.

Last I'd heard, the gunman was in critical condition. And that was approximately 7 p.m. as I was driving home.
