If it's a game in September or even October, it can also be brutally hot, which adds to the misery.
I remember going to an LSU-Florida game as a student in 1995. It was the 11:30 JP game, Florida was No. 1 in the country at the time, and LSU was just starting its mid-90s resurgence. Student seating is general admission, so most people were lining up by 9 or 9:30 to get the best seats. It was in September or early October, nice and sunny, no clouds, about 85 degrees. And you had around 10,000 college-aged kids sitting on metal bleachers from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The whole next week, you could tell who had gone to the game by their sunburned faces.

Cox Kansas customers get whatever passes as the "national" version of that here. No extra channels for the alternate games. We don't even get Pac-12 Net in HD. But we have the Big Ten in HD and with two alternate channels.

I'm guessing Cox will have the SEC channel the Big 10 treatment if only because there might be a few dozen or so Mizzou fans on this side of the state line.

Hangovers can do that, so I hear.

There's definitely a connection there. LSU went through a stretch where they were at or below .500 for a few years in day games at home. The general thinking was the fans weren't drunk enough to provide the same hostile atmosphere you'd get for a 7 p.m. kickoff, and the home field advantage was effectively neutralized.
Since they've been good for a while now and played so often in the 2:30 window, the fans have apparently adjusted their drinking patterns accordingly.

Sounds like more opportunity for Pam Ward to trade in her resume of calling Minnesota-Purdue on espn8 for Ole Miss-Kentucky on the SEC.

That's still a lot of hours to fill outside of football. If there was ever a channel screaming out for Hee Haw, Fandango, Crook n Chase and Dukes of Hazzard episodes, this would be it.

Original programming is expensive, although I cannot wait for the "10 Best Illiterate Auburn Players" special on the SEC Network. Perhaps a Paul Finebaum reality show?

The accepted style on that is PAWWWWL, not Paul.

James Brooks would be No. 1 if we're talking about actually illiterate, though if we're talking about functionally illiterate the field is wide open.

They really have a lot to draw on for time filling because of ESPN. They have several SEC-based 30-for-30s, plus some SportsCenturys and other documentaries.

And dear lord, they better show Junction Boys.

Does this mean Wright Thompson will have a daily show where he will spend an hour, walking around a patch full of polk salad and dreaming about the '62 Rebels? I can't wait!

Best college football movie ever with a cast of 90 percent Australians.
