Excellent reporting. The only thing missing was a report of a second explosion, this one blowing that school off the face of the earth. Heartless fucks.

Nice job to whoever decided to put a mortgage ad with fireworks on the Web page.

    Great story. Strange town.

I say build a new cannon. Make it as flimsy looking as possible and let the folks who threatened this family take turns lighting it every week.

"And firing the cannon tonight against the Podunk Pipsqueaks is the Jones family. Hey, good luck with that. Fans, we recommend not sitting in the north end zone."

Thought 1: That HAS to be an Onion-style parody right? That CAN'T be real.
Thought 2: Thank God it's not the South. Because this thread would already be 10 pages if it was.
    Thought 3: People suck.

I'd sue the fuck out of the school till they go bankrupt and close, and make them all ride a bus to Spokane.

The most stunning part of the story was that a cannon constructed by a high school shop class lasted for 20 years.

Apparently that was due more to luck than anything else, since few people in that town seem to have any brains.
