    Needed: A Sports Editor with talent, tenacity and temperament to lead a talented young staff covering a two-county area with about two dozen prep teams in need of quality community-oriented coverage. Other job requirements involve interest in diversity of off-campus sporting and recreation activities. The work is in the fastest growing area of Los Angeles County, with some targeted coverage of national sports beat, but the emphasis is local, local, local, for a national award-winning community daily. Ideal candidate has minimum two years success in supervision and direction of an intensely team-oriented approach to community sports coverage. Will consider move-up from assistant sports position.     The sports editor resigned Friday with the plan to stay until replacement could be found or end of year. they told him to get lost the same day the resignation letter was submitted. There was some friction between a couple younger members of the staff and the SE, and word is that management was little help.

    The SE was a good guy in a bad situation. He's due for a bit of good karma.

    He was shown the door upon submitting a letter. From what I understand he wasn't planning to be unemployed the same day.
