What was a $5 billion ruling for 33,000 fishermen and businesses crippled by the spill was later pared down to $2.5 billion by the appeals court. SCOTUS knocked that down to $500 million on Wednesday, yet I didn't find this on CNN, USAToday sites.
Each of those 33,000 now get $15,000 sted of the $150,000 they originally won in court.

Yeah, because it would've taken Exxon all of 90 minutes to make 2-billion dollars to pay it off.

Scalia and Thomas, the gifts that keep on giving.

Except Souter penned the majority opinion. From the NYT account:

They like to spread it around.

But of course, asshole Scalia and psychological-profile horror Thomas both voted with the majority.

Love that Alito had to recuse himself, since he's an Exxon stockholder.

SCOTUS . . . still, the best single reason to vote for BO.

It's been a while since I've spent a lot of time thinking about SCOTUS, but doesn't Souter line up with the left side of the court? He couldn't have been any bigger a blunder for GHWB if his name was Read My Lips.

    More often than not.

So wait, we should vote BO because one of the more liberal judges on the court issued a more conservative ruling?

Hate the make up of the court all you want, but you'll have to be a little more creative to blame W for this one. I'm sure you'll keep trying, though.
