One of our local teams just beat the Freeport Pretzels, 56-19, in the Class 3A girls championship game -- at 12:45 in the afternoon (thanks four classes!).

    Anyway ...

    HEADLINE: An afternoon snack
SUMHEAD: Richwoods eats up Freeport Pretzels for 3A title

Connecticut has the Bellringers and my favorite: Little Noises.

There's also a private school whose nickname is the Wyverns...I can't think of another school that would have that one.

Stephens County is the Indians.. nothing special, except they manage to merge the tomahawk chop and Notre Dame fight song into one piece of um... music.

  9. A few more interesting and/or unusual ones from Georgia...

Paideia Pythons, Dublin Fighting Irish, Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs (that's right, they spell it with two Gs, don't ask me why), Jordan Red Jackets, South Gwinnett Comets.

Also, a great thing about the aforementioned Johnson-Savannah Atomsmashers is that the school's basketball gym is referred to as "The Reaction Chamber."

From Daytona Beach, Florida: the Seabreeze High School Sandcrabs. School's about 200 yards from the Atlantic Ocean and was initially located in a now-gone town named Seabreeze.
