    Prayers for his daughter.

    Here's earlier speculation from Politico:

Rick Santorum's staffers won't say whether he will remain in the race, as he prepares for his first event since leaving the trail for the Easter holiday and to spend time with his hospitalized daughter.

Santorum's campaign director Michael Biundo and his chief strategist John Brabender both arrived at the Gettysburg Hotel, where Santorum will speak later Tuesday, but were tight-lipped.

Asked by POLITICO if they'd be providing information to reporters ahead of the speech, Biundo declined to comment and shook his head.

Santorum will speak in Gettysburg in a small ballroom, in the same hotel where weeks ago he declared the kick-off to his campaign for his home state.

At that rally -- just three weeks ago -- hundreds of supporters filled a large hotel ballroom and still hundreds more lined up outside. But Santorum will speak Tuesday to a room filled with reporters; just 18 chairs are set up, and members of the public were told by hotel staff that the event was closed.

    Here's the latest I read.

    Seems like he's still in.

I guess we don't know yet how his daughter's health affects this decision, but a couple days ago it sounded ominous. Articles said she has a live-in nurse and all the day-to-day equipment at home and would only go to the hospital for a serious condition, so when she went to the hospital it was not a good sign. Also saw a story today that in deference to the situation, Mitt had pulled all ads that could be seen as attacking Santorum for any reason, even professional/political record ones.

If it's true, rejoice. That moron had no business getting as close to national office as he did, even if in the end, he didn't come that close at all.

ABC Radio just reported it at the top of the hour.

First said he would speak later, then came back saying they could confirm he was dropping out.

    So moderate of you.

    Moderates, all class.

I would rejoice because I'm no fan of Santorum even being tangentially close to the White House. But if he's quitting early because of his daughter's health...I get no joy in that.

    No he's not.

He's another partisan, hiding behind the label of a moderate, who loathes the "partisanship" of the right, but is just as despicable as anything he decries.

His politics are loathsome. At the moment, they are not the point.

    Prayers for his little girl.
