    I realize in the Internet age it's not really the case, but Arkansas is the least-competitive major beat I can think of.

    At least two Arkansas papers had Jim Grobe delivered and practically on his way to Pig Sooieville in 2007. Never happened.

    Several years back, Wally Hall agreed to let one of his reporters do the layout and design of the basketball media guide for the university that the reporter covered. But the check paying for that freelance job was going to be made out to the reporter's wife, so it wouldn't look like the school was paying the beat reporter. I don't think it ever happened, but Wally approved the idea.
