The US approach is *not* always best. I would prefer universal health care and strict gun control laws. I think we do a lousy job of promoting and supporting two-parent families, too. Our porn-drunk, drug-and-booze-addled culture could use a dose of practical modesty and sobriety that our liberal celebrity class, buffeted from their personal flaws by money, will move mountains to prevent. Also, as a nation, we’re much too fat. It Italy or France were fat like we were, we wouldn’t even want to know how badly the coronavirus death tolls would have been there. We’re fat because we’re overworked and overstimulated

The more I think about all this, the more I think it is less a systemic problem than an individual one. I mean, the problem is systemic (because it has become that way). But it will best be solved individually.

I've come to this place as I've read and heard more and more about all the Black Lives Matter vs. Back the Blue protests, and all the counter-protesting, going on concurrently over the past week.

Is this something about which we really have to take sides? Because I can't believe it is. Isn't it possible to be supportive of both "sides" and viewpoints?

And if not, why not? For society's sake, that's what we need to answer.

It's the celebrities' fault that we have heroin addicts in Ohio or alcoholics in Missouri?

Before we compare the US to any other nation think about the racial/ethnic/religious composition of each.

I’m not saying Sweden/NZ/Japan/Norway/FrNce are exactly homogeneous but they’re much closer than we are. When you start from a homogenous start, they have the same norms, morals, beliefs. We are so secular and disparate we are nearly incomparable to any other nation.

    This is an excellent thought.

So that there's no chance the taser gun is taken?

You're right, about a couple of things here: This was a massive failure of training, and a tragedy. But, you know what? Once I get past the thought of Brooks' death, do you know what sticks with me most about this? Yep, the fact that this led to the Wendy's being burned down. Why did that have to happen?

All the looting and destruction has to stop. Otherwise, any bigger, more important point/message will be lost, or not listened to, and nothing will ever change.

As soon as Elvis swiveled his hips, he should have been shot.

I would never remove personal responsibility on the addiction front.

I said a group of people would move mountains to prevent any nationwide shift toward modesty and sobriety.

Yes, you spouted a Fox Snooze talking point with a Fox Snooze-like lack of evidence whatsoever to back it up.

    Show your work.
