Yes, Dungy built that team. Yet the closest he came was in 1999 with a rookie QB. Had MUCH better units in 2000 and 2001 and failed to score a TD in either playoff game.

Notice you didnt mention the HOFers he had on defense in Tampa. John Lynch, Derrick Brooks, maybe Ronde Barber...all that talent and it took Gruden to win a title.

You forgot Edgerrin James in Indy. And yeah, Reggie Wayne's probably not going to Canton, but he's just part of one of the great offensive units of the salary cap era.

    One title. One.

Still waiting on the HOFers Fisher has coached. Kerry Collins, maybe?

If I had to find a coach to piss me away one playoff game, Tony Dungy would be at the very top of the list. I hope he comes back next year so he can lose in January again.

You know, I'm just gonna stay off the football threads from now on. So much hatred, and over silly, stupid sports that don't matter a whit in the grand scheme of things.

The Titans had the best front seven in football, bar none. They had an excellent secondary. They had a very good offensive line, a great young running back and a veteran quarterback who played at a high level for most of the season. They had excellent specialists and excellent special teams.

Once Plastico was kicked off the Giants, there is no question they were the best and most complete team in the league -- and they got dog-fucked on their home field by a team with a horse-shit rookie quarterback that made ONE throw the entire game.

That is a big choke job by your hero Jeff.

Well, you know, that pretty much sums up this board in general.

Nothing we argue over is worth a shit in the grand scheme.

    Like fish in a barrell...

Yes, the Ravens were fourth in the NFL in rushing yards and first in the AFC -- but that was because they ran the ball so many damn times -- they were first in the NFL in attempts and by a lot --- and why is this so -- BECAUSE THEIR QUARTERBACK SUCKED.

But if you look a little bit deeper at the rushing stats, well you'd see my friend that the Ravens were 21st -- yes as in worse than 20 other teams -- in yards per carry.

So again, I stand by my statement, the Ravens run game was mediocre (and I'd say given that it is in the bottom third in a very important statistic means I'm giving it too much credit.....).

As for Joe Flacco he is 22nd in passer efficiency, he has a very mediocre 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, he was 25th in passing yards per game and the only reason he has a high completion percentage is he throws so many short, safe dump-off type passes.

And if you would really rather have Joe Flacco - a guy who is Kent Graham with more hype because he happens to be on a team with a great defense who is playing in an era when offenses are mostly mediocre -- than Eli Manning, you are more clueless about football than just about any poster on here.

Flacco is a journeyman quarterback with a big arm, at best.

Bruce Matthews, Eddie George and Samari Rolle and perhaps Albert Haynesworth and Jevon Kearse before it is all said and done.

Not too mention Gary Anderson..... :p

Bruce Matthews was there long before Fisher. that you're latching on to him and calling George, Rolle, Haynesworth and Kearse potential HOFers (let's see what Haynesworth does once he has the money) is proof you have nothing there.

Not at all, Bruce Matthews played seven years with Fisher as his head coach -- I'd say he was clearly a big part of things -- and again, Tony Dungy has had the best team one time when he didn't win it all. Once. That's it. And the year he won the Super Bowl, I don't think he had the best team, I think the Chargers and Ravens were both better.

He gets penalized because he's had the best quarterback -- that's one position -- and people think he should automatically win every year. His Colts teams have been high-scoring and not very good on defense and mostly because of the salary cap.

This year's Titans were built -- especially considering how mediocre and flawed the field was -- to win the Super Bowl -- had the best record to prove it and didn't even sniff it.

They are every bit the underachiever -- as was the year they lost to the Ravens at home with Eddie George when they were the No. 1 seed -- as any of Dungy's teams were and in fact, this year's Titans team was better equipped to win a Super Bowl than just about any of the Colts teams of the past seven years.

And before you start spitting about Peyton Manning and receivers -- The Colts have never had a defense close to what the Titans were this year, especially that front seven, nor have they had a run game as capable of dominating games like that -- and that's what wins in January.

Jeff Fisher is an overrated underachiever who has been coaching longer than Dungy and yet has less rings than Dungy.....

Yes, Zag, but Dungy HAD THOSE DEFENSES IN TAMPA AND CRAPPED IT AWAY. I'll give hiim 1997 and 1999, b/c 1997 was the first playoff berth since 1492 and the '99 team was robbed. But he had a complete team in 2000 and 2001, and it got destroyed both years by the Eagles.

And, dude, the year they lost to the Ravens was the year one of the best defenses in history bludgeoned four teams on its way to the championship. You're talking as if they crapped it away to a mediocre team. The Ravens had no offense, but that defense is an all-timer.
