The Yankees chipped away at him all game, a hit here, two there. Then Scot Shields did a tremendous job -- for a third of an inning.

Joba Chamberlain is my new favorite Yankees player.
Pitched an inning, allowing a hit and striking out the side, including Cabrera and Guerrero.
He has now thrown 8 innings allowed 3 hits and 2 walks and struck out 14 and has yet to allow a run.

 

50.1 ip, 1.61 ERA, 32 hits allowed, 69 K, 26 BB.

And Cliff Floyd comes through again.

 

And you can root for him every other day, too. Unless, that is, the game's a blow-out; then you'll see him every three days, unless ...

 

I'm OK with the Joba rules. Him pitching tonight was better than Farnsworth coming in and walking two batters, getting a couple of strikeouts, allowing a three-run homer and a double and suddenly Rivera coming in in the 8th.
