Jesus, having to listen to 2300+ words on Vandy football. That's worse than waterboarding.

Wait, you mean there won't be a conference named the Pac- 11, Gulf 1?

Shades of Steve Spurrier, then of Florida, voting for Duke in the preseason coaches poll.

Nothing screams "insipid click-bait reveal nothing online headline" like . . .

Social media rips one aspect of the SEC's preseason media poll

I want to come back to this for a second. Further data:

Saban said something similar at SEC media days in 2011. This is one of the few things to do with the 'Bama football team that he does not control. Alabama has not played an in state team other than Auburn since 1944. The legislature required UA to schedule Auburn in 1947.

That said, UAB has no desire to play UA. That's not just because they'd win, but so much as playing against them would spawn a wave of animosity, and if bammer were to somehow lose, outright hatred. UAB can make just as much money playing body bag games against LSU, UGA, or Tennessee without all the in state craziness.

That said, UA could pay Troy or South Alabama instead of Utah St. or Louisiana-Monroe and keep the money at home, but they won't.

If UAB can make just as much money playing an out-of-state guarantee game (I agree), the why would that same math not work for Troy or USA (or God help us, soon to be Jacksonville State)?

It would. It's just that every few months another genius writes a column about how 'Bama should play UAB one of these days. They don't want to play us, and we can see far more down side than any possible up side, so we're kinda sick of hearing it.

And now for something completely different.

Nice uniforms, but four minutes of video? Sheesh.

I went to look at Notre Dame's schedule.

So they're playing BYU in Las Vegas, then two weeks later will play UNLV in South Bend.
