Running 2016-17 college microaggressions/safe spaces thread

As an undergrad I took a couple of courses in creative writing taught by my alma mater's writer-in-residence (he was also a full professor of English). His last semester before retirement (long after my time there), he taught some senior seminar in which he gave everyone an A on the first day of the semester. He said it was the best time he'd ever had teaching. I suspect that's what's going on here.
