The Kansas City Royals Are Using Taxpayer Money Meant For Stadium Repairs To Pay For Other Stuff

The Royals have received at least $12.7 million from taxpayers that was approved by the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority as part of the RMMO provision of the team's lease with the county and spent it on full and part time employee salaries, security, cable tv, first aid, utilities, telephones and even payroll taxes. By using the money for payroll taxes, the team literally collected taxpayer money to pay their own taxes.

Uh oh. The radio station's report lays out exactly where the money's going, according to the documents. The figures cited appear to be separate from the $250 million in major stadium renovations that were completed in 2009

Like pretty much all pro sports franchise owners, they just figure tax money is free money, theirs to use as they please. When they burn through this wad, they'll be back asking/demanding/extorting for more.

Next thing you know, the Royals will be paying Walmart employees' overtime.

The Royals owner is noted cheapskate and Walmart CEO David Glass.

Wait, Walmart doesn't pay its employees' overtime? Surely you jest.

This isn't the Royals' worst crime.

They pay Ned Yost to manage.

So he's a Job Creator (Of Part-Time Minimum-Wage Jobs That Depend On Government Subsidies) in two lines of business? How blessed of him.

    Yeah, a real martyr.

And he takes revenue sharing funds and sticks them back into the team into his bank account.

Most likely Glass will end up selling the team to Cerner, I dont think he needs this kind of publicity.
