Roulette wheels suck

Roulette can be fun, but it's strictly a game of chance. There's very little you can do in terms of strategy or skill to improve you percentages.
Roulette, like craps, is best played communally — a bunch of people crowded around yelling and laughing.

  2. There is a very good reason why all the casinos have taken to using those displays which show you the last 20 spins. And its ot because it gives the player an edge.

There is no correlation between previous spins and the next spin.

If you don't know that, don't gamble.

That's like being dealt 2-7 twice in a row in poker and blind straddling the next hand because of it.

    It's insanity.

Was at Caesars Indiana a couple weeks ago, plopped down at the Pai Gow table.

Didn't play the bonus, sure enough I get a full house on the first hand -- would have given me $50.

I ended up losing $50 -- not because I lost hands, but because I lost bonuses the rest of the night. I can't believe I got myself suckered into that crack.

I honestly don't understand what that means. What are you saying here?

    My advice: Don't gamble. Period.

He's saying the casinos are more than glad to show you the previous 20 spin results to fool you into thinking there's a) a tendency in the spins that'll continue on future spins (simpleton theory) or b) a tendency that's sure to break on the next spin (slighty-smarter simpleton theory).

  8. People see that red has come up five times in a row and put their money on black not realizing that each spin resets the odds. They think black has to be more PROBABLE because it hasn't come up in five spins. Not true.

The false assumption leads to more action and more profit for the casino.

I'm OK with roulette. I usually play $40 worth (after I've won at blackjack) and I try to hang in there. I always bet on the 0/00 split but I have enough numbers I always play to at least hang in there for awhile.

Accountant: Let me get this straight: you took all the money you made franchising your name and bet it against the Harlem Globetrotters?

Krusty: I thought the Generals were due!

Yeah, I get the concept. I couldn't understand that "ot" meant "not" and it threw me off.

I love this thread because it confirms every misconception about roulette.

I've seen people with sheets of paper 200 numbers long with complex lines and equations and whatever sit down at roulette wheels and lose tons of money. They'll wait for the spin and try to calculate at what number the ball was snapped then throw money at numbers that correspond with what their paper says. Sure they'll hit every once in a while and proclaim victory over the casino. I watched a guy hit $7,000 in two spins at the Baton Rouge casino one night then piss it all away and then some over the next half hour because he thought he had it figured out.

Me? I just bet the same 5 numbers everytime and double my bet when I hit a number. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I call it a 'system' only because it's the way I play. No guarantees.
