Roulette wheels suck

So I hear about this thing called the "Martingale System." Can't lose. On a roulette wheel, you bet the minimum, say $2, then if you lose, you bet $4, then if you lose, you bet $8. The idea is that you'll eventually, of course, win, and when you do, the bet you make will recoup all your losses plus $2. Then you start over again.

So I start with like $260. I'd have to miss on like eight straight rolls to lose my money. ... Well, eight blacks in a row later (or whatever ungodly number it was) ... poof!

    Learned my damned lesson.

And now I certainly, certainly no longer trust Internet casino sites!

    Wheel has no memory.

Martingale is crystal meth of "systems".

Gambling doesn't suck. Bad approaches do.

The roulette wheel, I guess, is just pissing your money away. Those two little green squares guarantee that you can't win in the long run.

I believe PT Barnum referred to you one time, in relation to one being born every minute.

Roulette wheel is a neg 5.26% play. Gets ugly, quickly.

Best advice of all: STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM INTERNET CASINOS.

If I put $260 more in there, then I would be a sucker.

I really didn't believe that eight in a row of a color would happen that often. I figured it never got past three or four in a row.

Here's my real question: Do you guys think that some of these Internet gambling sites rig the thing? I mean, eight blacks in a row when I'm on red? Right off the bat?

All the numbers on the roulette wheel added up equal 666.

    Draw your own conclusions.

That "system" plays on a common misconception.

Each spin of the wheel is an independent event with the same odds.

Eight blacks in a row is just as probable as four black and four red, six red and two black, etc.

    Don't play roulette.

Not if you're a casino owner.

A player, in the long run, cannot win. So unless he just has money to burn and can withstand getting his butt kicked for entertainment purposes, then gambling pretty much sucks for the gambler.

When people would say, "Don't believe those systems, they never work!" I was like, "They're just being a goody-goody Pollyanna about it. They can watch me count my money!"

Monte Carlo hotel in LV has wheel with only single "O".

    Not so harsh.

Believe the minimum play is $20 or $25 per spin, however.

If you're risking your bankroll on the premise that you're going to hit once every eight spins or less, you've got no chance whatsoever. You may as well handed out bills to people you passed on your way in.

A few years ago, and couple of friends and I went to a casino and had a very profitable evening. On our way out, we were passing a roulette table and I noticed that a red number had hit on each of the last five spins. I suggested we play black until it hit, which obviously was going to be very soon because, after all, how many consecutive times could one number hit? We watched as red hit a sixth straight time, then seven, eight, nine and 10. We took our money off but stayed and watched it go to 11, 12 and finally 13. We kept the overwhelming majority of our winnings, but I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

As far as Internet casinos go, I don't trust what I can't see.
