I'm 35 and even I get it. Her, Michael and Madonna were inescapable during the decade.

WOW... I knew her life was fucked up with the drugs and the problems with Bobby, but surely didn't expect that.

People who are my age just shouldn't be randomly dying.

That's going to scar someone for life. Tune in for "A Charlie Brown Valentine," find out a pop music icon is dead.

I wasn't sure how young people can be and still be part of her prime. I'm 42, and I remember it well.

    Well, AP saw it coming.

    1,300-word obit up on LATimes.com

Probably not too many in-the-can obits for those younger than 50 at the AP.

Grammys tomorrow will be a somber three hours.

I'm 35 and this has rocked me. Not as much as Michael, somehow, but a lot. Whitney was my absolute idol when I was growing up. So beautiful, and the most pure, amazing voice I'd ever heard. I wanted to be her.

    RIP, Whitney.

This was my favorite of hers, though it's an unusual choice.

Yeah, you can go even younger. I'm 30 and this is huge. I'm old enough to remember her at the Super Bowl. And The Bodyguard soundtrack was inescapable on the radio when I was in sixth grade.

    RIP Whitney.

I am and it is huge, but it's not like she was a world leader or Michael Jackson.

No, but ABC News has history of breaking into newscasts for singer deaths, and breaking in with this was justified. Although it probably sent half of the viewership racing to the internet.
