    RIP to a true giant.
The late, great Jim Healy always poked at Myron. I thought he was great.
Here is a montage of Myron quotes from the Healy site.

I used to listen to Steeler games online while watching them on Sunday Ticket. When Cope retired, I quit firing up the computer for the Steeler broadcast.

    He was absolutely okle-dokle.

Nothing was better than watching the Steelers make a big play, and the play-by-play guy would be describing the action as it unfolded, and in the back of your own mind you knew Myron was just working himself into a lather.

When Myron did have the chance to speak he just would be spewing this unbridled excitement that would not be comprehendable for at least 2-3 seconds.

And when the Steelers made poor plays, Cope's voice was as crestfallen as a child who just dropped their ice cream.

Sweet God, am I going to miss him.

  7. A nice piece that captures the passion of Myron, the inventor of the Terrible Towel.

here's a video presentation honoring Cope's life. I don't know how to describe it. Terrible, awful, mildly amusing, amateur. Those words come to mind. Definitely not what I expected, but it appeases the parody song fan demographic.

Terrible news to wake up to. Cope is one of those voices I identify with my youth, growing up on the South Side. And even when talking Steelers with family, it was inevitable that someone would bust out a Cope impersonation at some point. An original who won't soon be forgotten.

    RIP, Myron. "Bye now!"

RIP, Myron. This is so sad.

One of my favorite Myron memories was listening to the Steelers on the radio while driving up to Pittsburgh with my parents right before Christmas of 1989. The game was on the line and Myron Cope was yelling and screaming.

His cohort said, "Myron, Myron, watch your blood pressure."

His response? "I ain't got no blood pressure!"

I might have to change my fantasy team name back to Cope's Cabana, from Gerela's Gorillas.
