First Dick Evans, now Matt Fiorito ... the bowling world lost another iconic journalist. Very few of them left.

This is very sad news. I had the pleasure of working with Matt for a short period of time. Even though our jobs were vastly different, he always gave advice, told great journalism stories, and ordered extra White Castle sliders for the rest of us. Good guy.

Very sad news. He was one of my first bosses when I worked in Waukegan.

He was kind-hearted. Highly skilled journalist, including being a great headline writer.

Like what everyone else said - great guy. We didn't cross paths very much, but he always was very kind when we did. He did so much for the bowling community.

    RIP, Matt.

From his cousin, who writes for the Toronto Star.

Mitch Albom, wrote a column about Matt, which stunned me. After all, Matt was one of the proverbial "little guys" at the Freep (even though he was a big guy).

Of course, Mitch has to weave himself throughout the column. Turd.

Good point. And, Mitch is still a turd.

This was certainly interesting. I mentioned earlier on this thread about Matt's stories. One of those stories was about how he got suspended after the elf fudged the Final Four story. The story was also pretty enlightening as it described in detail the way the entire sports department felt of Mitch.
