Yeah, I knew all that but my shock is more because isn't he in his late 70s?

Born in 1941. Looks very fit and in good health for his age.

The new guy should be Shane Lyons, former compliance chief at the ACC and a good guy. He has been the right-hand man at Alabama for the past 18 months.

Stake Snabler is slipping. Bill Battle is the new athletics director: http://bit.ly/1009IiE

Agree that the Saban hire was a stroke of genius and/or luck. Also of the opinion that in Alabama if the AD hires the right football coach no one will care if the basketball and baseball coaches have the ability to breath, so that should not be considered when evaluating his legacy. But why was he a boob as an assistant coach?

Now what if a big scandal at Bama is unveiled and is linked to the last 3-5 years?

And by "if" you mean "when," right?

    Damn straight.

But honestly, I hope for the sake of SEC football and college sports in general that Saban is running a clean program. I really do. I've always admired what they've accomplished down there in Tuscaloosa the last few years, even though by admitting so I'm liable to never be able to step foot in Neyland again.

He died this morning, per Cecil Hurt on Twitter.

Alabama announced it, which is where Cecil Hurt got his information.

If you say so, but I can almost guarantee you people like Cecil and Kirk McNair knew before the press release came out.

Cecil tweeted it out an hour ago. First tweets citing UA release came about 30 minutes later.
