I'm sure the vast majority who know who Karl Malden was thought he had already passed, but he did it for real last Wednesday at 97.

Malden was a great character actor in several 50s, 60s and 70s movies, but for me, he's the first TV cop I have recollection of as he starred in Streets Of San Francisco.

The show was of its time, which means several episodes are likely badly dated, but it had some cool episodes too.

And it had one of the underrated theme songs/opening credits in TV history.

Too bad its not re-run very often.

RIP to one of the great character actors of film and TV who lived a loooooong time.

I wonder if there are any other beloved but frequently-presumed-to-be-dead character actors who would like to chime in...

But seriously, he was an incredible actor. "The Birdman of Alcatraz" was a movie I really liked as a kid when it came on the independent TV station.

Dammit. Somehow saw this come up on a news feed of mine and posted it. I think I probably posted on the original RIP thread, which makes this thread 100 times stupider (and funnier).

I should probably ask for this to be removed. But why spoil everyone's fun?

Once saw the Butthole Surfers in concert and as part of their stage, they ran a Karl Malden movie in reverse on the screen behind them.
