RIP Joel Schumacher

    Looking at his film catalog, Schumacher had a good read on what Generation X teens wanted in the 1980s. He lost that touch as the generation grew older and he couldn’t connect with younger generations like he did in the past.

    I would HIGHLY recommend Falling Down to anyone who hasn't seen it. My goodness, talk about a strong take on white male fragility.

    I don't think a lot of the movies have aged well.

    Look at St. Elmo's Fire- that film might appear to a modern teen/twentysomething to have been made in 1885, not 1985.

    80s cheese was a defining trait of that era and thus valuable. Like a time capsule.

    Now it's worth its weight in gold.

    I am looking at the movie through the eyes of the kid who saw it in 1988, and I didn't want cornball jokes or a buddy movie. I wanted vampire shit.

    The bad hair, what can I say, we were all impervious to that.
