A good friend of mine, and one of the better auto-racing writers in the country, passed away Tuesday morning -- Jerry Reigle. He was 43.

Jerry was a special person, as anyone who dealt with him quickly realized. Quite simply, he was one of the most positive, upbeat people I have ever known.

He was a regular figure at Daytona and other major tracks during his Patriot-News career before leaving to become assistant editor at the Area Auto Racing News.

He battled stomach cancer for a year.

Jerry will be missed. Greatly. Please say a prayer for him.
