Another forgotten line, after Bandit tells Snowman they have a chance at $80,000:

"Oh, what are we gonna do, kidnap the Pope or something."

Oh, and what do they do for fun in Texarkana, Snowman?

"Probably sit around and watch the cars rust!"

Whenever I play GTA:San Andreas I always make a point of listening to K-Rose until "Amos Moses" is over.

    RIP, Jerry.

Can't believe I had to explain to my SE who Jerry Reed was. Guess we need to do a better job of vetting our candidates (is that a crossthread?)

Smokey was a classic. Any movie with a theme song that explains the entire plot of the film is a winner in my book.

    Awww. Dang.
A favorite when I was growing up.
Ever hear the BB King version of "Patches"?

I guess it helps to have a simplistic plot, though.

I don't think it would have been as catchy with Schindler's List, for example.

From the growing AP story on his death:

He first established himself as a songwriter. Elvis Presley recorded two of his songs, "U.S. Male" and "Guitar Man" (both in 1968). He also wrote the hit "A Thing Called Love," which was recorded in 1972 by Johnny Cash. He also wrote songs for Brenda Lee, Tom Jones, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and the Oak Ridge Boys.

I hope he's bringing a truckload of Coors to heaven with him.

    RIP Snowman

The only good thing that could come out of this is some cable station plays Smokey and the Bandit in his honor

    RIP Snowman.

"Patches" is one of those earworms for me.

He wrote that? I thought it was Clarence Carter.

General Johnson of the Chairmen of the Board wrote Patches for Clarence Carter.

So why are we mentioning Patches in connection with Jerry Reed?
