RIP Jay Johnstone

Still doesn't beat the Blumpkin gag played on Lasorda.

 

There was a writer whose nickname was Blumpie.

 

Finally found a story. Apparently he's a COVID-19 victim, but had been suffering from dementia and was in a nursing home.

Yesterday, I was saddened to read of the passing of my good friend, Jay Johnstone. His friendship and sense of humor bonded us long after our playing days were done. What made us click was our mutual approach to the game: Work hard...and play harder!
