Sunday is the final day of thoroughbred racing there. After 75 years, the place will be razed for housing, offices, shopping and restaurants. I'd only been there half a dozen times, but I loved looking for the place on final approach to LAX. There are few things as depressing as live racing run in front of a crowd you could probably fit on your front lawn.

Fun fact: The St. Peter's Square scenes in Angels & Demons were filmed in the HP parking lot.
