Dan Seals was a popular solo artist in his own right with 11 No. 1 country chart singles.

Probably Dallas Samuell's most famous grad (short of Lulu from Hee Haw). RIP.

There can't be one person in a thousand in this country who knows the difference between England Dan and John Ford Coley. Was Dan the popular one?

“Welcome Garfunkel, Messina, Oates and Lisa, singing their number-two hit, ‘Born to Runner-Up.’” [/simpsons]

I think John Ford Coley and Tim Weissberg are financing Andrew Ridgely's race team.

Fun fact: He got the nickname "England Dan" as a teenager by imitating the Beatles.

Shit, he was born in McCamey, Texas????

I must have covered a dozen games in that town and never heard that.

Thanks for mentioning that about his country chart career. He had some huge records in the late '80s, with "Bop" probably the best known but by no means the best of the bunch. I've always been partial to "Big Wheels in the Moonlight" and "Everything That Glitters."

    RIP.
