Sang back-up on dozens of country music classics, including Elvis' "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight?," Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man," George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today," and Patsy Cline's "Crazy."

    Died Wednesday at age 88:

Quite possibly my stepmother's favorite musical act of all time. They were widely renowned as a gospel group in their own right.

The backup singing they do on Patsy Cline's rendition of "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" is awesome.
