    Damn, you're correct. Looking at the list of stand-alone cities, I would think Nashville is certainly as big and well-known as some of them.

    Here in Mississippi, any Philadelphia or Cleveland dateline is troublesome. Both Mississippi towns of the same name are regularly in the news, one because of its notorious history in the Civil Rights movement (and because a couple of casinos are there), the other because it's where Delta State University is located.

    The Rome, Ga., paper doesn't use datelines for stories inside that city. Whenever ROME appeared as a dateline, it was the Italian capital.

    And George was right when he said Swift and Underwood aren't country. Fucking pop starts with a steel guitar thrown in once in a while.

    The Possum was the rightful heir to Hank Williams self-destructive streak. But unlike Hank, he somehow didn't die at 29.

    A legend is gone, but his songs live on.
